Business: The combined market valuation (Mcap (Market Capitalization)) of seven of the country’s top 10 most valuable companies increased by Rs 2 lakh crore last week. Among these, Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel remained at the forefront. Companies benefited from the rise in the stock market. Last week, the BSE benchmark jumped 1,451 points or 1.75 per cent.
Market valuation of Reliance Industries and Airtel increased
Among the top 10 companies, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance and Hindustan Unilever gained, while Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) declined in valuation. The market valuation of Reliance Industries increased by Rs 47 thousand crore to Rs 19.17 lakh crore, which is the highest among the top 10 companies. Bharti Airtel’s market valuation increased by Rs 41 thousand crore to a total of Rs 11 lakh crore.
Market capitalization of these companies increased
The market valuation of ICICI Bank rose by Rs 40,123 crore to Rs 10,26,491 crore and that of HDFC Bank rose by Rs 33,185 crore to Rs 15,40,210 crore. Bajaj Finance’s valuation increased from Rs 28,903 crore to Rs 6,65,899 crore. The market capitalization of Hindustan Unilever increased by Rs 17,774 crore to Rs 6,12,009 crore and that of State Bank of India increased by Rs 7,938 crore to Rs 8,20,924 crore. However, Infosys’ valuation declined by Rs 30,306 crore to Rs 5,98,773 crore. The market capitalization of TCS declined by Rs 23,807 crore to Rs 10,71,894 crore and that of LIC declined by Rs 7,684 crore to Rs 5,60,173 crore.
