Trump’s big attack before Putin’s visit to India, political turmoil over threat of 500% tariff

]

Donald TrumpIt is not known when American President Donald Trump will take a turn. Sometimes they talk about trade deal with India and sometimes they impose tariffs indiscriminately. Especially his attitude has been strict on buying oil from Russia. Due to purchase of Russian oil, additional tariff of 25 percent is being imposed on India. Now he has talked about imposing 500 percent tariff on those countries which do business with Russia and buy Russian oil. Trump has said this at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to visit India. Putin will come to India on 5th December. It is believed that during the meeting with PM Modi, there will be talks on oil and trade, but Trump’s nervousness is visible before the Russian President’s visit to New Delhi. India is Russia’s second largest oil buyer, so Trump’s announcement will have a direct impact on India. It would not be wrong to say that Trump has openly threatened India on the purchase of Russian oil.

500 percent tariff on buying Russian oil

US President Donald Trump once again increased the concern of many countries of the world including India. He has said that he is in support of such a law in which heavy sanctions or tariffs up to 500% can be imposed on countries doing business with Russia. He said that if any country does business with Russia, it will have to face 500 percent tariffs and sanctions.

Then why without Donald Trump?

Donald Trump has talked about imposing 500 percent tariff on those doing business with Russia. He even said that Iran can also be included in this list. Trump wants to stop the war with Ukraine by hurting Russia’s economy. That’s why they have weaponized tariffs. He has said that he is in support of such a law in which very heavy sanctions or tariffs of up to 500% can be imposed on any country that continues trading with Russia. In fact, Republican lawmakers are preparing such bills in which heavy sanctions or tariffs will be imposed on countries that trade with Russia.

India on target

These policies of Trump will have the biggest impact on countries like India and Russia, because both buy large quantities of oil from Russia. India is Russia’s second largest energy buyer. In October 2025, India has purchased oil worth more than Rs 28,000 crore from Russia. However, after American pressure, Indian refineries are staying away from purchasing Russian oil. Earlier, America also imposed sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil companies. They are bursting the bomb of 500% tariff.
