Business: IT sector company Infosys announced performance-based payment for the September quarter. Under this, employees have been given an average bonus of 75 percent of their eligible amount. However, according to the employees, this bonus is slightly less than the bonus given in the previous quarter.
How much bonus is being given on what basis?
During this quarterly bonus cycle, Job Level 4 employees received bonuses at varying percentages based on performance. According to the company’s staff, 83% bonus has been given to those with ‘excellent’ ratings, 78.5% to those with ‘commendable’ ratings and 75% to those falling in the ‘meeting up to expectations’ category. Sources say payouts saw a decline as job levels went down, although the average across all eligible categories remained between 70.5% and 83%.
This time’s bonus is less than last quarter – employee
Some employees said that their bonus this quarter is 5 to 7% less than the bonus they received in the April-June period. In that quarter, Infosys’ average payout stood at 80%, and individual payouts ranged from 75% to 89%.
Did the companies give bonus to these employees also?
This time the company has increased the bonus to job levels 4, 5 and 6, which include software engineer, team leader and senior manager. These levels comprise the bulk of the total 3.23 lakh employees. All these groups were classified as excellent, commendable, met expectations and were categorized as non-applicable and eligible for bonuses.
It is stated in internal communication that the decision is taken based on the performance and contribution of the employees. The company has given the responsibility of distributing the bonus among the delivery managers in their respective teams as per the evaluation. In the email sent to the employees, the company wrote that thank you for being an important part of Infosys’ journey. Infosys has said that the bonus amount will be added to the salary for the month of November.
