Stock market rises, Sensex gains 267 points, Nifty crosses 25,500 level

Business: Stock market major indices Sensex and Nifty rose in early trade on Monday after falling in the last three sessions due to positive trend in Asian markets and buying in blue-chip stocks. Besides, traders said fresh foreign capital inflows also supported investor sentiment.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 267.74 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 83,484.02 in early trade. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 84.90 points or 0.33 percent to 25,577.20.

Condition of Sensex companies
Among the 30 Sensex companies, Asian Paints, Bharat Electronics Limited, Larsen & Toubro, Titan, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, ITC and Bharti Airtel were among the gainers. Whereas Trent Limited, Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, State Bank of India, Adani Ports and UltraTech Cement were among the laggards.

Lenskart shares have a weak start in the market
Shares of spectacles retailer Lenskart had a weak debut in the market on Monday as it listed at a three per cent discount to its issue price of Rs 402. The stock debuted at Rs 390 on the BSE, 2.98 per cent below the issue price. It later fell 11.52 per cent to Rs 355.70, and then gained 0.44 per cent to Rs 403.80. The shares were listed at Rs 395 per share, a discount of 1.74 per cent, on the NSE and fell 11.41 per cent to Rs 356.10, and later traded at Rs 404, up 0.5 per cent. The market valuation of the company on NSE stood at Rs 69,091.21 crore.

Mixed situation in Asian markets
In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi jumped 3 percent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index rose nearly 1 percent, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.47 percent, while Shanghai’s composite index traded marginally lower. On Friday, American markets closed with substantial gains.

The price of Brent crude increased to $ 64.04 per barrel.
The price of global oil standard Brent crude rose 0.64 percent to $ 64.04 per barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 4,581.34 crore on Friday, while domestic institutional investors overtook FIIs by buying shares worth Rs 6,674.77 crore. On Friday, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 94.73 points and closed at 83,216.28. The 50-share NSE Nifty fell 17.40 points to close at 25,492.30.
