Business: Air India on Wednesday morning safely airlifted 228 passengers from Ulaanbaatar to Delhi, who were stranded in the Mongolian capital for the last two days. All these passengers were on a flight coming from San Francisco to Delhi, which had to make an emergency landing in Mongolia due to a technical glitch on Monday.
Relief flight operated with Boeing 787 Dreamliner
An official said that the Air India relief flight carrying passengers from Ulaanbaatar reached the national capital at around 8:24 am on Wednesday. The relief flight was operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Relief flight number AI183 took off for Ulaanbaatar on Tuesday afternoon.
The Boeing 777 plane, carrying 245 people including 228 passengers and 17 crew members, was diverted to Ulaanbaatar, a source said on Monday.
The plane landed in Ulaanbaatar due to technical problem
On Monday, the Tata Group-owned airline said AI174, en route from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, was made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar as the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route. The Boeing 777 aircraft operating the flight landed safely in Ulaanbaatar.
