Air India will operate a relief flight to transport passengers of flight number AI174 (San Francisco-Delhi of November 2), the airline said in a statement. It was diverted towards Ulaanbaatar on Monday. Flight number AI183 will depart from Delhi this afternoon and return on Wednesday morning carrying the affected passengers. The relief flight will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Passengers and crew are being looked after
The statement also said that the airline is working with local authorities and the Indian Embassy in Mongolia to look after the passengers and crew. This also includes providing them hotel accommodation.
The plane landed in Ulaanbaatar due to technical problem
On Monday, the Tata Group-owned airline said AI174M, en route from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, had to make a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar as the flight crew suspected a technical problem en route. The Boeing 777 aircraft operating the flight landed safely in Ulaanbaatar.
