Gold becomes expensive again
On Monday, October 20, a tremendous rise was seen in the prices of gold on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Gold for December delivery rose by 2.82% to reach ₹ 1,30,588 per 10 grams. According to the rates released by the Indian Bullion Association (IBA) the next day i.e. on October 21, the rate of 24 carat gold was recorded at ₹ 1,30,860 per 10 grams and the rate of 22 carat gold was recorded at ₹ 1,19,955 per 10 grams, which means that due to the demand of the festival, the prices have continued to increase.

Even silver was not left behind
Along with gold, silver has also gained momentum. Silver for December delivery on MCX rose by 1% to ₹ 1,58,175 per kg. On October 21, the bullion rate of silver was ₹ 1,58,500/kg, which shows that even after Diwali, silver prices remain high.

What were the prices of gold and silver in the cities?
Let’s take a look at the gold and silver prices in major cities of India on October 21:

  • In Mumbai and Pune, 24 carat gold was priced at ₹ 1,30,620 per 10 grams and silver at ₹ 1,58,210 per kg.
  • In Delhi, gold was ₹ 1,30,400 per 10 grams while silver was ₹ 1,57,940 per kg.
  • In Kolkata, gold was recorded at ₹ 1,30,450 and silver at ₹ 1,58,000 per kg.
  • In Ahmedabad, gold stood at ₹ 1,30,790 and silver at ₹ 1,58,420 per kg.
  • In Bengaluru, gold rate is ₹ 1,30,720 and silver ₹ 1,58,340 per kg.
  • In Hyderabad, gold reached around ₹ 1,30,830 and silver ₹ 1,58,460 per kg.
  • In Chennai, the most expensive gold was recorded at ₹ 1,31,000 and silver at ₹ 1,58,670 per kg.
