Stock market bright after Diwali, Sensex gains 734 points, Nifty crosses 26 thousand

Business: After Diwali, the stock market opened with a green mark on Thursday. Sensex rose by 734.36 points to reach 85,160.70 points in early trade. Nifty is also trading at 26,066.90 points with a gain of 198.30 points.

Boom in IT and banking sector
On Thursday, BSE Sensex also opened with a gain of 734.36 points at 85,160.70, which is close to its all-time high of 85,478.25 recorded on September 27, 2024. At the same time, the Nifty 50 index crossed the 26,000 level for the first time since September 2024 and opened at 26,057.20 with a gain of 188.60 points. Infosys, HCLTech, Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, TCS and Hindustan Unilever were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. Whereas, Eternal, Bajaj Finserv, SBI and Maruti Suzuki were the top losers.

Market reaction has also come out from the implied open of Nifty. The rally that has already started during the festive season will now intensify and Nifty may reach new record levels. Recent influx of foreign investors into buying and short covering may also give further impetus to this rally.

foreign markets turned red
In the last trading session in the US market, Dow Jones closed at 46,590.41, down 0.71 percent or 334.33 points. Most Asian markets remained in the red in morning trade. China’s Shanghai index was trading 0.66 percent lower. Japan’s Nikkei was down 1.35 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index fell 0.24 percent. South Korea’s Kospi was trading 0.42 percent down.

Please note that the stock markets remained closed on Wednesday due to Diwali. Sensex closed 62.97 points or 0.07 per cent higher at 84,426.34, while Nifty closed 25.45 points or 0.10 per cent higher at 25,868.60 in the one-hour Muhurta trading session on Tuesday.
