Business: The US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) said that pharmaceutical companies Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories have decided to recall some of their medicines from the US due to manufacturing defects. According to a recent enforcement report by the USFDA, Glenmark’s US arm Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA has recalled 26,928 packs of contraceptive drug Viorel (desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol). This medicine was manufactured in a plant located in Goa. It was recalled under a Class-2 recall on September 3, 2025 due to impurities and deterioration in quality. At the same time, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Inc., Princeton (New Jersey), the American unit of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, has recalled 571 vials of succinylcholine chloride injection. This medicine is used to relax muscles during surgery. According to the USFDA, this drug showed results outside the quality standard during a six-month stability test. The company initiated a Class-2 recall on September 26.
GAIL Gas Limited reduced the prices of CNG and PNG
Giving major relief to consumers on the occasion of Diwali, GAIL Gas Limited has announced reduction in the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in its operating states. These new prices will be applicable from 17 October 2025. According to the new rates, the price of CNG has decreased by Rs 1.50 per kg, the price of domestic PNG has decreased by Rs 1.50 per standard cubic meter. This price cut will be applicable in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Odisha, where GAIL Gas Limited is providing its services. GAIL Gas Limited CEO Gautam Chakraborty said that this decision is a step taken by the Central Government towards promoting natural gas based economy. This will attract more and more consumers towards environment friendly fuel.
Engineering strength showcased in 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has showcased India’s advanced technology and excellence in railway engineering by participating in the 16th International Railway Equipment Exhibition 2025. RVNL’s stall was set up at Hall 4, Stall No. 4.42, where the company presented modeling of its major railway projects. This stall was inaugurated by RVNL Chairman and Managing Director SC Jain, directors and other senior officials of the railway sector. The exhibition featured miniature models of major engineering projects like Pamban Bridge, Cable-Stayed Bridge and Rishikesh-Karnprayag Tunnel Boring Machine, showcasing the speed and efficiency of RVNL. SC Jain said that it is a matter of pride for us to showcase the engineering excellence of the country in the exhibition.
IRFC’s highest profit till date
Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC), the financial arm of Indian Railways, has recorded the highest ever profit after tax (PAT) in the second quarter and half year of the financial year 2025-26. The total profit of the company for the period ending September 30, 2025 was Rs 3,522.67 crore, which is 10.45 percent more than the same period last year. Last year this profit was Rs 3,189.47 crore. The company earned a profit of Rs 1,776.98 crore in the second quarter of the financial year 2025-26, which is 10.19 percent more than Rs 1,612.65 crore in the second quarter of last year. The reason for this growth is the company’s strategic diversification and better net interest margin. IRFC has improved profits by venturing into new schemes and business areas.
Honor to women leaders of AICIL
Four women leaders of Agricultural Insurance Company of India Limited (AICIL) were awarded the Nari Shakti Samman 2025 this year. This award is given to those women who are bringing change in the society by making significant contribution in their field. The ceremony was held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The most prominent among the honored women is Dr. Lavanya R Mundayur, Chairman and Managing Director of AIC. She was chosen as the best woman leader of the year. Dr. Mundayur has made many major changes in the agricultural insurance sector since assuming office in December 2024. Under his leadership, AIC has grown rapidly, with the company’s crop insurance market share increasing from 32 to 50 percent. Claims worth over Rs 7,000 crore were paid to farmers, helping more than 1 crore farmers. Government schemes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Rao and Weather Based Fasal Bima Yojana were further strengthened.
