Blinkit’s owner company trapped in GST case, UP government sent notice of ₹ 128 crore

Business: Eternal, the company that owns food delivery and instant delivery apps Zomato and Blinkit, has received a GST demand notice of over Rs 128 crore from the Commercial Tax Department of Uttar Pradesh. This notice has been issued by the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Lucknow.

The department has alleged underpayment of output tax and overutilization of input tax credit in the period April, 2023 to March, 2024. According to the company, the order includes a total GST demand of Rs 64.17 crore along with interest and penalty of the same amount, taking the total amount to more than Rs 128 crore.

Eternal said it would appeal against the order. Eternal said in a regulatory filing that it does not agree with the allegations and calculations made in the order. In March 2025, the company changed its name from Zomato to Eternal, while both Zomato and Blinkit are owned by it.
