Air passengers can soon get a big gift… No fee will have to be paid for ticket cancellation!

]

New Delhi. Air travelers are going to get a big gift soon. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has planned to abolish the fee for canceling air tickets. The regulator says that currently passengers have to pay a heavy fee for canceling their tickets. Also, sometimes there is a lot of delay in refunding the money on ticket cancellation, because most of the passengers book their tickets through middlemen or agents and the companies also put the responsibility of refund on these agents.

If DGCA’s proposal is to be believed, air passengers may soon be allowed to cancel or modify their tickets without any extra charges within 48 hours of booking. Aviation regulator DGCA has proposed important changes in the ticket refund rules. This means that if the air ticket is canceled or any change is made within 48 hours of booking it, then no fee will have to be paid for it.

Airlines will be responsible for refund
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has proposed that in case of tickets purchased through travel agents and portals, the responsibility of refund will be on the airlines, as the agents are their appointed representatives. This means that even if the passenger buys his ticket from any middleman or third party like Make My Trip, it will be the responsibility of the airlines to refund the money in case of cancellation. DGCA has clearly said that these third party agents or agencies also work as representatives of these airlines. Therefore, the final responsibility will be on the airlines companies only.
